Omega Seamaster Diver 300 M — Steel and Sedna Gold, 2023

The Seamaster Diver 300M is the watch most people picture when they picture an Omega diver: 42 mm, a wave-pattern blue dial cut by laser rather than stamped, a ceramic bezel with the diving scale in enamel, and the helium escape valve at 10 o'clock that has been a Seamaster signature since the 1990s.

This is the two-tone configuration — stainless steel with Sedna gold on the bezel, crown, pushers and hands — on the matching blue rubber strap. Reference 210.22.42.20.03.002.

Caliber 8800

Omega's Co-Axial Master Chronometer caliber 8800, 35 jewels, 55 hours of power reserve. Master Chronometer is the part worth understanding: it is METAS certification on top of COSC, which adds resistance to magnetic fields of 15,000 gauss and tests the fully cased watch rather than the bare movement. In practice that means a watch you do not have to think about around phones, laptops or speakers.

Water resistant to 30 ATM — 300 metres — with a sapphire exhibition case back.

What to Check

On a two-tone Seamaster the gold is applied to discrete components, so look for consistent colour between bezel, crown and hands. Check the ceramic bezel insert for chips at the edge and confirm the enamel scale is unmarked. The rubber strap should be supple with no cracking at the lug ends, and the deployant should snap shut cleanly.
