There are Moonwatches, and then there is this Moonwatch. Reference 310.60.42.50.01.002 takes the most storied chronograph in watchmaking and executes it entirely in solid 18k yellow gold — case, bezel, bracelet, and clasp. The result is a watch that carries the full weight of Speedmaster history while sitting in a completely different register from the steel version most people picture.

The Speedmaster earned its place by being the first watch worn on the Moon, and Omega has been careful never to dilute what made it work. The 42mm case retains the asymmetrical lyre lugs, the twisted case flanks, and the tachymeter bezel that have defined the model since the 1960s. What changes in gold is presence: the metal is warmer, heavier, and catches light in a way steel simply cannot. This is a piece that reads as significant from across a room.

The Caliber 3861

Inside is the Co-Axial Master Chronometer caliber 3861, Omega's current-generation manual-winding chronograph movement. It replaced the long-serving 1861 and brings the Co-Axial escapement, a silicon Si14 balance spring, and resistance to magnetic fields of 15,000 gauss — a threshold that would stop most mechanical watches outright. Master Chronometer certification is issued by METAS, the Swiss federal metrology institute, and tests the fully cased watch rather than the bare movement, making it one of the more demanding standards in the industry. Power reserve is approximately 50 hours.

Condition and Set

This example is unworn, supplied with its original box and papers, produced in 2026. For a gold Speedmaster, completeness matters more than usual — the production numbers are a fraction of the steel version, and an unworn full set in precious metal is a materially different proposition on the secondary market than a worn example with no accompaniments.
